Greetings from Holiday Shores 1
Allow me to introduce myself to those of you that do not know me. I am Ron Scheet, your newly-elected Property Owners Association President. This is the first quarterly newsletter to let you know what’s happening in our neighborhood. I plan to have this letter out within 2 weeks after our scheduled Board meetings on the third Saturday of June, September, January, and March. These meetings are open to all, and your attendance is encouraged. We appreciate your active participation and would like to hear your concerns, ideas, and proposed solutions.
The current board:
Ron Scheet, President 2010-2012 Darlene Overfield 2010-2014
Nan Seith, Vice-President 2010-2012 Cindy Hodgson 2010-2014
Chuck Lipscomb, Secretary-Treasurer 2010-2012 Lacy Faires 2010-2014
Bill Kelly 2008-2012 Bonnie Silcox 2010-2014
Burl Greer 2008-2012 Charles McAdams 2008-2012
Hub Thigpen 2008-2012
The most asked question I get since being on the board is, “what do I get for my annual fees?” Your lot ownership includes our “community property”. The Point, clubhouse and pool are owned by all and require funds to keep maintained and operational. They are a benefit to the community and most certainly add value to your personal property. Choosing to purchase property in our deed restricted community brings with it certain responsibilities. As a property owner you have a financial obligation to maintain these common areas. I thank you property owners that are current with your payment. If you are a property owner that is not up to date on the fees associated with the lots that you own, we are asking you to please send those in. As reviewed at the annual meeting, in order for the HSPOA to maintain and make needed repairs to the assets we hold, it is imperative that each property owner meet their financial responsibility by paying the annual maintenance fees.
A couple of projects that have been approved and budgeted for are new front doors at the clubhouse and renovation of the pool bathhouse. Both will begin shortly and hopefully be completed by Labor Day. For those of you who enjoy our pool, it will remain open during this time. And speaking of the pool, let me remind everyone to pack your trash and pick up after yourselves. We contract for pool maintenance only. The pool deck, bathhouse, and adjacent grounds are “self cleaning”, so please keep the area looking neat for others to enjoy.
I would like to introduce you to our website, www.holidayshores1.org There you can find the following: meeting minutes, a copy of the deed restrictions, the pool rules, forms for renting the clubhouse, building permits, a copy of the budget and budget status, an e-mail address for contacting the board, civic club news, a message board for your use, and a lot more. It is a work in progress so take a look; use it as it belongs to all of us. I’m hoping this website will clear up some communication problems and keep everyone up to date with association business, as well as what’s going on in the neighborhood. This letter is the only newsletter you will receive in your mailbox; others will be on the website. For those of you not having a computer, you can send us self addressed stamped envelopes and we will mail them to you each quarter.
Last year was a tough one for the “beetle kill” of our trees, and there is a lot of dead and downed timber in the neighborhood. A friendly reminder, it is your responsibility to keep your property clean and mowed.
Please join me, your Board, and your neighbors in our efforts to maintain and improve Holiday Shores 1. I look forward to working with you in the days ahead.
Until October; your neighbor
Ron Scheet
